After being very disappointed with our original booking of 10 days on vacation in Koh Chang (see comment on Bhumiyana), our travel agent booked us at Tropicana Khlong Phra our beach vacation was saved! From the first contact with the reception and CEO are to be useful, helpful and willing to negotiate to ensure a great vacation.
We traveled with our two children (7 and 10) and shares a comfortable superior room which had two good beds and a sofa / bench could become a bed for one child. The room was spacious, comfortable beds were firm, the decor is warm and clean and the bathrooms are excellent. The only complaint of the rooms are in turn very quickly showers hot or cold on its own and you risk getting a bit of a burn, and superior rooms are subject to another bungalow and you can hear every sound ( and I mean --all!) of its neighbors. Because of this I would recommend that you book a luxury suite to ensure a relaxing stay. As we stayed at the hotel during the night --- Sonkran were invaded at night by the constant vibration of the music and bad karoeke bars distant, but that will happen anywhere these days in Thailand. Once the holidays were over night again be peaceful and quiet.

The grounds are wonderful - beautifully landscaped, quiet and well maintained. There are no buildings over two stories high so it does not seem to densely populated and everything is mixed well with the landscape. There are flowers on trees throughout the base with beautiful ponds and other nice touches.
The infinity pool (though the small side) is very clean and situated on the edge of the beach. Perfect for children and for making magnificent sunsets. It also has a small bar by the swimming pool which offers a good selection of drinks. There are comfortable lounge chairs along the pool and the beach with a sufficient number of umbrellas for shade. Only slight problem is that many staff members running around the pool never ask for a drink order or to help with umbrellas.
On one side of the beach property is a very comfortable beach bar that offers a good happy hour and play some great themes. It is a great place to relax before dinner to enjoy a great sunset. Drinks are reasonably priced.
The breakfast selection is quite good with a good variety of food and western Thailand. It is usually quite fresh fruit and have a good selection of cheeses, bread, fresh cut vegetables, and a few fellows make omlettes. Only the lower end of the selection of the breakfast is horrible coffee and tea. Usually found in ourselves to the main road in the late morning in the upper crust (owned by a really nice type, Paul), which has a large selection of meats, pastas, wines and coffees.
Dinner in the restaurant are reasonably priced and a good selection of food. They also have the number of selections of fresh seafood can be grilled to order (big tiger prawns!). The restaurant is right on the edge of the beach and offers a great view and atmosphere at this place offers. Staff in the restaurant were not particularly dynamic, but very friendly and welcoming.
Our nine nights at the Tropicana were fantastic! We live in Thailand and have been to many hotels and this is highlighted as one of our favorites. I can highly recommend this hotel for families and couples. You will not be disappointed.
