We just returned from a period of three weeks in Thailand, our first week was devoted to a 5 * Resort in Krabi, and then we stayed in our last week of the Klong Prao Resort in Koh Chang. Although the resort was not 5 * it was very clean and the rooms are surprisingly large.
Me and my husband stayed in VIP1 who had an impressive view of the beach and pool. Our children (aged between 14 and 16) stayed in VIP 3, which was a bit more modern, but again was very clean and the bathrooms are very spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ask them to arrange some trips around the island and the drivers were very friendly. Its very, very quiet at night and the hotel does not offer any entertainment ... fantastic ....
We ate in most evenings and only once tried the restaurant. That was OK but the service was very slow (we received our starters at the end of our meal). The beach is beautiful and clean the pool area.
The offer massages in the pool area are fantastic and I can not think of a better way to spend an hour at 4.00. The following is the resort along the white sands and living resource (its still very quiet), most of the restaurants are on the beach and are very good. I would recommend Thor's Palace on the beach. The food is amazing and so cheap ....
The other place is to visit Bang Bao fishing village for lunch. The restaurants are on stilts and have magnificent views over the bay and the prices are amazing .... Our lunch for four people including 4 fresh crab, rice, pasta salads and lots of beer for 9.00 including our generous tip ... .
 Koh Chang is a paradise and I can not wait to return next year, but Im sure I hardly recognize the place .... Koh Chang is quite intact and not very commercial at the time as soon as people start to read the latest comments that will become very popular. We booked the hotel directly as most travel agents in the UK provides only a hotel in Koh Chang, so there was no one in all the British in our hotel at all. Make use of taxis on the island (collection trucks) and agrees not more than about 50 baht per person.
If you are looking for bars, nightlife and beaches, with banana boats and jet skis go to the Mid If you are looking for paradise, good food, freindly people and the opportunity to see some wildlife go to Koh Chang, but do not say too much people
